A brief podcast invitation to a campaign fundraiser and community event. We will cover profiles of accepted applicants in the context of how Pearland ISD is and is not attending to the needs of students with the potential for elite college admissions. We will dissect what it means to be 'academically excellent' to the exclusion of social and emotional wellbeing. We will consider what can be done to set a district-wide culture that actually values the unique aptitudes and contributions of each student, whatever their postsecondary path. We will re-examine success as belonging not only to individuals but to communities and explore the importance of cultivating civic leadership for the health of us all.
